Our triumphant return to Monterey and Big Sur. We spent the day along the coast and went down to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. This is the site of the world famous McWay Falls, which drops over a cliff of 80 feet into the Pacific Ocean. We then cam back up and spent some time in some local art galleries. We ended our day on the Cannery Row and indulged in some great dining...
McWay Pano Time
An 80-foot-tall waterfall on the coast of Big Sur in central California that flows year-round. This spot begs for the best panoramic shots! What you don’t see are all the tourists huddled at the end of this path trying to get the same shot.
Pelton Wheel
The Pelton wheel extracts energy from the impulse of moving water, as opposed to water's dead weight like the traditional overshot water wheel.
Low-High Tech
Sometimes, I find looking back at technological process and wonder how we did it. Sometimes, the old is more impressive than the new.
Strange Roadside Gallery
I found this to be a weird place with distorted nude sculptures. It was closed that day but seemed interesting.
Hawthorne Gallery
Heather and I really liked this place. The building alone was art.
Artistic Waterfall
Right when you park at the gallery, this lovely waterfall greets you. Very cool water feature!
Large Metal Art
In the back of the gallery, we found many giant metal sculptures that would work in any garden. We wanted them all!
Rocky Point Restaurant
We stumbled upon this really awesome restaurant off of Hwy 1, just south of Monterey. Great margaritas with the best view. We didn’t want to leave!
Rocky Point Views
Just below the restaurant are some lovely outdoor seating spots perfect for sipping wine and enjoying the coastal view.
Schooners Restaurant
A must when visiting Monterey is the restaurant Schooners, located in the Monterey Bay Plaza hotel. Love the clear glass railing made for perfect viewing. Everything we’ve ever ordered off the menu is delicious!
Brunch in Style
We happened to get a great spot outside at the end of the deck watching about 10 otters, multiple kayakers and scuba classes having a great time in the bay. Did I mentioned they have excellent brunch beverages!
Amazing Food
Try their cheesy Naan bread with a breakfast scramble. One of the best dishes on their menu.
